Take a nostalgic trip back through time at this lively, late 19th-century, New England-inspired lakeside Resort and water park.
- When the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
opened on November 5 and November 19, 1990 respectively, some of the
"backstage" areas of World Showcase could be seen from some of the
upper guest room floors. Specifically, the back of the buildings in the
France pavilion were in plain sight. So Disney Imagineers, in keeping
with the idea that anything in guests' view was "onstage" and should be
themed appropriately, created façades on the back of the buildings so
everything would look "just right" to the Yacht and Beach Club guests.
- Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts made a big splash by receiving the 2004 Disney Magazine Reader's Choice Award for Favorite Walt Disney World® Resort Pool!
- The Legend of Stormalong Bay - sailor named Stormalong ran his ship aground after being caught in a fierce storm, creating what is now Stormalong Bay. Today, the remains of the great vessel contain a water slide encompassed by the ship's mast which extends 150 feet into the air.
