Disney Cruise Line Brings More to the Magic PDF Print E-mail

The Disney Magic is going into dry dock for about three weeks. During that time it will receive several upgrades, including a new splash pool themed around the movie "Fantasia" for the diaper-aged set. The 385 square foot "Mickey's Splash Zone" will be added onto the Mickey Pool on the ship's deck 9, and will feature star and moon shaped fountains and splash areas. Other new enhancements will include new waterfalls from a pair of hot tubs in the pool at the adult-oriented "Quiet Cove" and plush new chairs at the nearby "Cove Cafe." Additionally, the staterooms will receive new 22-inch LCD television sets on swivel arms; and the "Oceaneer Club" and "Oceaneer Lab" kids clubs will be receiving new registration areas to allow "radio frequency identification" wristbands to be used to check kids in and out simply by tapping a sensor.

A rumor swirling around the Disney Cruise Line is that it may be looking towards another new destination: Alaska. The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Disney is one of half a dozen cruise companies that have submitted proposals seeking contracts to sail in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska sometime between January 1, 2010 and September 30, 2019. We will keep you apprised if we hear more.
