With 5,246 feet of track, "Test Track" has Walt Disney World's longest ride track (although doesn't it seem as though "it's a small world" just goes on forever?). 2,600 feet of that track is located outside the show building.
- The track has been engineered to withstand winds up to 200 miles per hour.
- The building which houses the Test Track ride, queue area and post-show is 65 feet high and is 320 feet in diameter.
- At just under a full mile in length, the track ranges from zero to twelve feet off the ground inside the pavilion, and twelve to twenty-four feet off the ground outside the pavilion.
- In a year, each vehicle will travel 50,000 miles and is built to last for about 1,000,000 miles. That's like driving to the moon and back 4 times. You think the drive with the kids to Florida was rough? Imagine hearing, "Are we there yet?" every five minutes over a 1 million mile long trip!
- Did you know that it takes 8.8 seconds to go from 0-65 MPH during the attraction? That's about as fast as the 1997 Pontiac Grand Am which reaches 0-60 in 8.6 seconds. Each vehicle also generates about 250 horsepower- equal to the supercharged 3.8 liter/240 horsepower 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix.
- Although there are only 4 visible wheels on the outside of each of the cars, there are a total of 22 wheels for each vehicle. These wheels require a total of 6 distinct braking systems on board each ride car.
- The difference in temperature between the hot and cold test rooms is 100 degrees Fahrenheit!
- Because part of the track is outdoors, the ride may temporarily be shut down in case of inclement weather. No, not the blistering, humid, middle-of-the-summer Florida heat, but events such as lightning, and the oh-so-friendly Florida hurricanes.
- Each car in Test Track has three times the computing power of the space shuttle!
- The difference between the hot and cold testing chambers in Test Track is about 100°F!
- There are 32 vehicles in total, but only up to 25-26 on track at any one ime.
- The number of miles each test vehicle will travel per year is 50,000
- Each vehicle was designed to last for 1 million miles.
- During the ride it takes 8.8 seconds for each vehicle to go from 0-65 m.p.h.
- There are 3 computers in each vehicle, which together have more processing power than the Space Shuttle
- Each vehicle has 22 wheels, only 4 of which are visible
- Each vehicle goes through 34 turns during the ride.
- There are 6 braking systems on board each vehicle
- The temperature change between hot and cold during the environmental chamber testing is 100 degrees
- The crash-test dummies will be struck in the chest, banged on the knees and have their necks bent in pre-show demonstrations 720 times per day.
- The track which runs around the outside of the building banks at 50 degrees
- There are 85 road signs lining the ride
- There is no steel between the front and rear wheels - the vehicle chassis is made of composite materials
