Last night, I had the chance to dine at the new Sushi Bar at Disney's Polynesian Resort. Adjacent to the Kona Cafe, and the a.m. home to the Kona Cafe Coffee Bar, it offers not just sushi, but the FULL menu form the Kona Cafe, including full bar, desserts, etc. You do not have to order sushi to eat at this first-come first-served bar. 

I tried (for research purposes only, of course) the Volcano Roll and the Tuna Poke. Both were made fresh right in front of me by the sushi chef, and were quite good. The Volcano Roll had a nice little "zip" to it, and the tuna was quite unique. 

It's a great option for those Guests that are looking for sushi on property, and a nice alternative if you can't get reservations at Kona, or just want a quick bite at the last minute. I should note that the service was very very good, both from the servers and the pleasant sushi chef.

One thing, though... it may not be here forever. As rumored on the show a few weeks ago, it is only in atrial period, that ends in about a week. In talking to the staff, it is unsure at this time whether or not the bar's nigttime transformation will continue past the trial run. So head on over between 5 and 10 p.m. and give the new Kona Cafe Sushi Bar a shot. And if you like it, be sure you let the Cast (and especially the Manager) know!
