Penny Arcade
The Penny Arcade was a real working arcade filled with vintage games, including something called the Kiss-O-Meter, and was found in original location of the Hall of Champions.
A penny could really buy you a personal show through the viewfinders of the Mute-O-Scopes (which were introduced around 1900 and had to be turned by hand) while the Cail-o-Scopes changed the pictures automatically, having been developed about 10 years later.
You could have been treated to such comedies as “Yes We Have No Bananas” and “Raid on a Watermelon Patch.” You can still find a few of the sports-themed games and moving picture machines in Casey's Corner, although they have been removed from what is now the Hall of Champions. At one time, you could even have your fortune told, or listen to a song from the PianOrchestra, which can also now be found on second floor of the Main Street RR station, along with some of the Mutoscopes and Cailoscopes. This was also the one time home of the only pressed penny machine in the Magic Kingdom. In the section of the store closest to the entrance, you should be sure to look up and see the antique trophies that line the walls.
Part of the expansive space that the Penny Arcade took up ran behind
two other lost shops, the House of Magic and the Tobacconist.
The Penny Arcade closed March 19, 1995 to become part of Main Street Athletic Club.
