- The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was an 18-minute long presentation was a collaboration of George Lucas and Walt Disney Imagineering. It closed in 2003 and was replaced by Stitch's Great Escape, (based on the character from the Disney animated film, "Lilo & Stitch") which opened in 2004.
- Located in Tomorrowland's Interplanetary Convention Center, guests are provided with a demonstration of teleportation technology, which is presented by X-S Tech. The members of X-S Tech are from the Planet X, located on the farthest side of the galaxy, who discovered Earth during a research probe mission. According to their Chairman, their goal is to help less fortunate planets like ours upgrade their technology, as the are the galaxy leaders in such areas as Electro-Robotics, Cryo-Cybernetics, Techno-Surveillance, Planetary Restructuring, Genetic Engineering, Hyper-Spacial Transport, and their newest invention, Interplanetary Teleportation, which is the subject of the demonstration.
- During the second pre-show area of the attraction, we are introduced to Skippy, the not-so-enthusiastic "volunteer" for a demonstration. One of X-S Tech's robots uses poor Skippy to show how a living object can be transported from one destination to another by breaking down and restructuring their molecules them in a receiving tube. Poor Skippy is teleported from one chamber to another, and ends up a little "fried" when he gets to the other end.
- The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter was located in the building which originally housed the D-Ticket attraction "Flight to the Moon," which opened in December, 1971. "Flight to the Moon" closed in early 1975 and reopened as an updated version known as "Mission to Mars," which opened on June 7 of that same year. On October 4, 1993, Mission to Mars took its last flight to the Red planet, and was replaced by The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter in 1995 as part of the opening of the "New Tomorrowland."
- The first incarnation of Alien Encounter was scrapped by Michael Eisner who dubbed it "not scary enough". This ride is now deemed "Too Intense" for young children.
- This hair-raising adventure includes a cast of celebrities. Chairman Clench is played by Ferris Beuller's Jeffery Jones, the late Phil Hartman is the voice of the robotic S.I.R., and Tim Curry and Kevin Pollack can also be seen in this attraction. (Tim Curry replaced the late Phil Hartman as the voice of "S.I.R." in the pre-show).
