Getting Ready for Turkey Time!

After the auction bidding ends, we need the most people to be able to quickly close out the bid sheets & set up for checkout. Ideally, this part will take about 15 minutes and mostly involves writing down who the winners are and helping clear some space for the checkout registers. I don't have the meet schedule yet, so I don't know if this will be during the last speaker in the ballroom, the last breakout session, or Fred's closing remarks. You'd get a brief tutorial in how the process works some time during the meet, so the close out goes quickly and smoothly.
When checkout starts, a few people will be needed to serve as 'runners', finding the items the person checking out has won and bringing them to the register. After the meet is entirely over, a few hands for cleaning up the tables might be needed, but there shouldn't be more than 15 - 30 minutes worth of folding up easels and tablecloths and that type thing to do. Other help needed: Set up before the meet (at least 1 hour before meet starts, probably earlier); and assistance during bidding (a few people around the tables to answer questions, keep watch, etc.), which can be done in shifts. We may also need a few sales people during the day, but more on that later.

Well I would like to help in some way. I was just worried about not making my family wait around for me. Sounds like the time commitment is minimal. I'll leave it up to you since you know what you need. I just really appreciate the effort everyone is putting into this event and I'd like to help in whatever way I can.

sign me up Pat.... at least tentatively.... I have signed up to go, but have had a 'change in circumstance' (i.e got laid off), so money is tight at the moment and this is not a trip I can do in one day. Right now I am looking forward to some fun....

Thank you, Kate & Meg!
Kate, I understand totally about not wanting to make the family wait. We appreciate any time you can give us! Meg, I'm so sorry to hear about the job! Hopefully it is just a temporary set back before better things to come. Really looking forward to seeing you again! As helpers, you'll be entitled to wear Event Staff shirts, if you'd like - check them out at http://www.cafepress.com/dwtdreamteam (and no, that's not really the price!)

Now, I've heard the saying "wearing two hats" when doing two jobs. Sounds as if we are beginning a new style of wearing two t-shirts (or more) for some of us. Of course, I could wear one like a cape. Ha ha! And then, maybe a cool DWT shirt and one of my WDW shirts. Hmmm!!! Could get a bit warm in the middle of July. ![]() |

Will you publish what help you need when you get the meet schedule?
I can probably help take down and maybe work a "shift" during the day. I have never been so I do not know how the meet works with respect to what happens during the day, etc. Thanks for all your help! I can't to spend my money on a good cause! |
