I voted for Beauty and the Beast. Overall, it was the best production that I saw. The Lion King suffered from a poor Young Simba the day we went and it almost ruined the first act. Never got to see Aida, but I did enjoy the soundtrack. One The Record while enjoyable, is a musical revue...not a real Broadway production IMO.

Nice poll!

What? no Peter Pan? Oh, wait... that was about 25 years ago, Lou

Never saw Aida, but loved BATB, Lion King and yes, even On The Record

I've only seen BatB, but I saw it twice - once in the Palace theater, and that production was far superior to the version now at the New Amsterdam.

Aida, dude!
I love that. I listen to the soundtrack all the time. I sang "Easy As Life" and "Strongest Suit" as solos in highschool. I also sang the duet, "Written in the Stars" in college with my choir director's husband.

I only saw it at the Palace. What did they change when they moved houses?

One day I hope to see a production of Aida. I am really, really dying to see Mary Poppins when it crosses the pond!

Some of the better pieces of scenery were reduced or eliminated, because the New Amsterdam has a smaller stage. It was particularly noticeable to me in the scenes in the forest with the wolves - the Palace had these incredible trees that moved on the stage, but the NA version wasn't the same.

Actually - as the theatre history girl -- there was a production of Peter Pan about 5 years ago on broadway -- and its touring now

I adore AIDA - by far my favorite -- and don't forget Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is on Broadway now. It was nominated for a few tonys too - I think it won one. Must check on that.

As much fun as it was to see (and be in!) BatB, I had to go with Lion King. I mean really, how many times do you get to dress in African costumes like that?!?!?
