DisneyLAND question

Well, I am heading to LA with some friends in June and have found this tour company that has a Disney tour. This means they pick you up and drop you off - from hotel to park and reverse. So I am taking the chance, going solo to Disneyland, leaving my cohorts to go shopping or something.

So, doing a little research, as I know a lot more about the World than the Land....
Was thinking of doing a late character breakfast. The one I was interested in is the Lilo and Stitch breakfast at the Paradise Pier hotel. My question is about getting there. Since I will have entrance to only one park that day.....and none of my own transportation....

Hi GaRain

Great idea you have there.

I am sure our resident Disneyland expert can give you some pointers. (Afterall it is 20 minutes rom his door to Mickey's )

I am redirecting your question to our Disneyland forums and letting RU know you have a question.

Good luck and let us know how it all works out.

Greetings!

Depending on where you are in LA, you should be able to get to DLR fairly easily; bus, shuttle, or taxi even. Check with the hotel and I am sure they can give you the best options.

You can visit any hotel and that does not effect your Park ticket. The hotel is within walking distance to either of the 2 Parks. DLR is very different. The distance from DL to DCA is about 200 yards. We are very compact out here. You can stroll thru our DTD and get to the hotels. If you spend the morning in DL then you can hop the Monorail to Disney Hotel, that will save a little walking.

Again, don't think WDW. I have never looked at a comparitive map but I would imagine all of DLR could fit within the AK/AKL area - or close to it. The 3 hotels, Downtown Disney, and the 2 Parks are all within walking distance of each other.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask!

Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for the advice. Heck, I didn't think to look under misc for disneyland...how cool!
Well, I will only be there for one day, the tour bus picks you up at the hotel and drops you off at the park. Hopefully everything will work out. I will be going in June - what is the weather like? If I am there all day, should I bring a light jacket for later?

We get what our weather people call 'June Gloom.' Which basically is a fancy way of saying cool (mid to upper 60's) overcast. A jacket would good to have for the evenings. If it gets really cold it gives you a good reason to buy a DLR Sweatshirt

Wow!

You are fast!!!
So, let me ask the resident expert...since this will be my first (but hopefully not only) trip to DisneyLand....
What do I need to make sure I do not miss?
Unfortunately, Space Mtn will not be up and running while I am there, so I can't do a Land to World comparison. But what would you suggest?

Since you will be in only 1 park I assume that means Disneyland and not DCA. And it seems like you are experienced at WDW; so I will steer you away from duplicates

SKIP:
Most of Fantasyland except Mr Toads Wild Ride since WDW no longer has it and possibly Alice in Wonderland since WDW doesn't have it
Tom Sawyer's Island or Canoes
Winnie the Pooh (poor knockoff of the WDW version)
Star Tours (same as WDW)
Innoventions (unless it is really hot and you need cool off time)
Astro Orbitor
Autopia
Honey I Shrunk the Audience

MUST DO:
Tiki Room - the Original show
Indy Jones Adventure
Pirates of the Caribbean
Disney Gallery if it is open, which it should be. (Be sure to go on the balcony overlooking New Orleans)
Haunted Mansion
Disneyland Railroad
Matterhorn
Storybookland Canal Boats
Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin (in ToonTown)
it's A Small World (Disneyland is the best)
Monorail (the closest you will get to DCA since it does travel thru it)

IF YOU HAVE TIME:
Either the Mark Twain or Columbia Sailing Ships are nice
Snow White the Musical (if you like Disney stage productions then move this to the must do list)
Splash Mountain (there is a single rider line, if interested let me know)
Big Thunder Mountain (same but still fun - and yes, it is safe)
Jungle Cruise (basically the same but pure Walt magic)
Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster (similar to WDW but fun none-the-less)
Tarzan Treehouse (similar to Swiss Treehouse, just different themeing)
Storybook Land Canal Boats (make this high on the optional list)
I don't think WDW has Pinocchio's Daring Journey (cute dark ride, I would say Alice gets ranked over this if you had to choose)

I hope that helps, let me know if you need clarification on anything

Let me add:

Characters!

At the Front Gate (at opening time) and Town Square you can find all kinds of characters: Alice and company, the Fab 5, Any of the princess could be there, Aladdin and company - and sometimes other characters.

In and around Fantasyland you will find the princesses; Snow White, Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora.

Ariel's Grotto is near Matterhorn

The Fab 5 can be found in Toontown (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto.) I have also seen Daisy and Max.

Aladdin and Jasmine like to hang out near Aladdins Oasis

Tarzan and compnay can rarely be found near Tarzan's Treehouse

Winnie the Pooh and company can be found deep in the heart of Critter Country; located between the entrances of Splash and Winnie the Pooh rides.

The Toy Story crew can be found in Tomorrowland. Sometimes Woody and Jesse are in Frontierland. Pocahontas also appears in Frontierland sometimes.

And at other times you might find more. This is just a mini guide. Appearances subject to times, rides, shows, parades, and night.

Talking Thank You!

Thank you so much for everything!!! I have booked my tour! I am going on Sunday, June 5th if anyone wants to look for me or be my guide, hee hee~
I don't think I will have time to do the character breakfast lik I wanted to. The original tour info says it will pick you up at the hotel at 8:30, this day it is scheduled at 9:30 - which means I wont get to the park til like 10:30 or so. Here is hoping I will get to see and do a lot that day. I would think as a solo guest, that it might be easier....who knows.
WISH ME LUCK!
I will check in when I get back. And of course, write a trip report!
