Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

I'm sorry if there has been a previous post about this. I just read about this in a mailing I recieve from my Disney Rewards Visa.
It says:

Quote:
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
Summer 2007
The subs are back. Inspired by the Disney/Pixar film Finding Nemo, this adventure takes Guests on an underwater excursion - right alongside familiar friends from the film.
Has anyone heard more about this. It sounds really neat. I have never been to Disneyland but with all the new stuff they are coming out with I wish that I could go.

I saw the construction when I was there this summer Katy, and everyone is REALLY excited for the subs. The monorails weren't working to full capacity because of the construction on the lagoon, they had to take out part of the monorail track to fix it.

Apparently it's going to follow a similar path as the 20,000 leagues ride did, but go through the under sea adventure of nemo and his friends. From all the concept art I've seen adn what I've heard about it, I am impressed! Since it was my first trip to Disneyland this May, I definitely plan to go back, probably not in 2007 but hopefully if I can afford it in 2008 (hopefully Disney will give their CMS a good discount to go!).

Basically it will be similar to the 20,000 leagues ride if you have ever been on that. They decided to put it in Disneyland but take out WDW's lagoon to make the park more different. Also the upkeep of 20,000 was insanely expensive which is why it closed in the first place. Hopefully they have new technology so it won't be as expensive.

I think i may have some construction photos somewhere. If I find them I'll post them here. :-)

dt.com?

if you're looking for updates for the ride, pix etc... check out disneygeek.com the site always has great pictorial updates....

can't wait for the opening...

it will have a soft opening, my guess around the first, the ride open and allow people to ride as trials, and fixing bugs etc before the official opening....

BY DAVE BERMAN
FLORIDA TODAY

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- - The Walt Disney Co. is nearing completion on one of its biggest ride recycling projects, transforming its classic "Submarine Voyage" ride at Disneyland that dated back to 1959 into an Nemo-themed attraction designed to appeal to both young children and the parents.

More on the expected financial impact of this new attraction
from Bloomberg:

Disney's `Nemo' Submarine Ride May Help Boost Disneyland Crowds

By Andy Fixmer

June 10 (Bloomberg) -- Walt Disney Co., the world's largest theme park operator, opens the ``Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage'' attraction tomorrow to help sustain attendance gains after a 50th anniversary promotion at its parks last year.

The ride is the first at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, based on Pixar's ``Finding Nemo'' movie. It replaces ``20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,'' shuttered nine years ago.

Post Disneyland resurfaces sub ride as Finding Nemo Voyage

I sure do wish they had done this at WDW instead of that pile of Pooh...
From the L.A. Times:
================================================== ======
Disneyland resurfaces sub ride as Finding Nemo Voyage

By Kimi Yoshino, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
June 11, 2007

It was an underwater battle of epic proportions, pitting the creative types against the cost-cutting suits. But after nearly 10 years, Disneyland's classic Submarine Voyage was resurrected from the deep today.
