Thanks for the encouragement! Although I'm defineatly not physically ready, I am so looking forward to the race! I'm calling it my reward (or punishment) for losing the 50lbs I need to lose.

All in all every thing went well. However, I did get some unplanned training in. On friday, on our way back to the college, our bus broke down. So me and everyone else had to walk back to the school. Thankfully the college was only about 5 miles away. But if I hadn't been training, I would have never made it.
But other than that, everything went fine. I'm just glad it's all over now!

Update time. I have some bad news. I have been experiancing some horrible pain in both my knees. I am starting P.T. on Monday. I was told if that does not work I will have to see an Orthapedic surgeon. I told my doctor I do not care what we do I just want to get back to running and completing my goals. I have been trying to run throught the pain, but it can get pretty intense at times. I will not give up and I will still be running in the '09 half marathon. I will keep posting as to what in going on.

I'm sorry about your knees =(

Some advice after your doc clears you again....if you haven't already find a running shoe store near you that "fits" your shoes to you. We have one here in TX called Luke's locker. They want you to bring in your old shoes with you. They'll watch you walk/run on a treadmill to see your form. They'll also look at your shoes to see your wear pattern. They spent about 20 min with and 30 min with DH. At the end the shoes they decided were best for me were $50 and the ones for DH were about $120. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience(and our feet loved us). We've given the rec to numerous folks and everyone else has had a good experience as well.

My Dad had knee issues and his new pair of shoes from there helped work wonders!

I'm sorry to hear that . Don't push yourself too far. The last thing you need to do is hurt your knees even more. Hopefully your doctor will figure out what's wrong with them.

Well, as for me... This has been another down week. Last week was parades, now this week is Finals. I've spent almost my entire week preparing for them. Next week doesn't look good either because I'm going to WDW (I NEED this vacation), so it looks like my training is on a temporary hiatus for at least one more week.

I guess this week just stinks for all of us!

Good week this week so far for me, I have run 40.5 mile since Sunday and I'm looking to do my first 50+ mile week in a pretty long time. I am getting really excited about the race! It is going to be here soon. I hope everyone is doing great with their training! You guys are awesome just for doing all this! Keep us updated on how your weeks are going and don't be afriad to ask for advice! And I totally agree about going to specialty stores for running shoes, I know they will get you into the right shoe. My first year running back in high school I quickly learned that running shoes are more complicted that just grabbing the first pair you like, and I soon found out those Nikes were not for me. But I love my Asics now and I have been in Asics for many years now. Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey guys thanks for the support and advice. I did go to a running store here in Rochester. They video taped me running on a tred mill and were able to fit me in the right shoe. Guess those nikes are the right ones for me. Matt good luck on your finals. Your right to focus on your finals first. Running will always be there waiting. Have a FANTASMIC time on your vacation.

Yeah I will be at the starting line in '08, who has gotten their race packets?? I got my a week or so ago! We should all share our race numbers now so we might be able to see if anyone is going to be in the same corrals! I am number 1099!
