I have been listening to the podcast since it's first episode. This past pod cast seemed to have some negative overtones to it.
Nathan apparently rode the ride portion of Expedition Everest, but totally missed half the ride. I first started going to Disney back when they had ticket books. Back before Euro Disney, before Epcot, before Disney/MGM Studios, even before Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Rides have changed, the lines are no longer called lines, they are called Queues. I think Nathan failed to realize that the Disney Imagineers have engineered these queues with purpose. Nathan seems to have rushed through the queue and onto the train portion of the ride. He missed half the attraction. The queue is what builds the backstory for the attraction. Walking straight through it only causes you to be lost. It's like trying to watch a movie from the middle to the end, without watching the first part. Nathan had some strong, and in some cases harsh things to say about E.E., but I feel that if he goes back, and experiences the Queue before he gets on the train, he will realize that the attraction becomes more than he originally experienced. Nathans next trip to Animal Kingdom should be his Expedition Everest Do-Over. When he gets back (if he gets back, I heard there is some kind of Yeti stalking the ride), if he still does not care for the attraction, at least we will know he experienced the entire ride. ![]() |

BTW... You guys get funnier all the time! ![]()

Hey Lou... If you can pull your strings and get us on Everest next weekend, I'll take Nathan personally and make sure he "gets" it.

Yo-Ho Yo-Ho A Second Expedition Nathan will go
![]() When Lou and I were recording the Feb 6th show, I was thinking to myself the entire time (you are bashing the Yeti a lot), but I couldn’t help it. My personal experience with new theme park attractions, movies etc, is that I actually am the target audience of the giant corporate marketing machines--I get all excited (I would even sleep outside for a new attraction if I could) and have such high expectations only the “ultimate attraction” would ever come close to meeting them. That being said, my Everest excitement has been built up for 5-6 years. I thought this was it. This is Disney’s greatest WDI achievement since the original AA figures (and the combining of thrill and themed rides since Was I too quick to judge Everest?…yes…..with that being said I will be riding Everest again on the weekend of Feb 17th. With an open mind…being more realistic, and making sure I spend time in the queue (even if there is no line) and this time immersing myself in EE experience. PS: To jump on the marketing machine bandwagon I have decided to call this trip not Expedition Nathan, but E2: A New Beginning . PSS: New names for my second expedition will also be considered!

Everything I have heard indicates that EE is unofficially open to the public as a soft openings. I could be wrong (been known to happen before
but pending down time for maintenance, tweaks, etc the ride should be open during normal operational hours.BTW how was the popcorn?

The popcorn was pretty good... not as good as a WDW Chipwich.... but I'll have to wait until next week for that.
I am sooooo excited. DD is going down to perform with the HS Band and I'll be taking DS down to see her. Hmmm Who knows, with any luck, I might actually attend "Nathan, but E2: A New Beginning "Does this mean there will be Pirates added to Everest??? Can you tell I feel the need to talk to you guys while listening to the podcast?

I will make sure Nathan gets on again. I shouldn't have road it the first time as I'm dealing with a stomach issue (gastritis possibly) so depending on how I feel that day I might try it again as well. |
