Getting Ready for Turkey Time!

I posted this over at Magical Mountain first:
Checking the Mirriam-Webster dictionary, it is spelled CAY but pronounced as either 'kë (KEY) or 'kä (CAY). It's definition says see the 4th definition of KEY, which is "a low island or reef (as off the southern coast of Florida)" OK, so that doesn't really help, but the idea of seeing either of you two in a thong is scary enough to make me say you're both right.

Every travel person I've spoken to, as well as various Travel Channel Disney Cruise specials, have always pronounced it key.
I myself used to pronounce it 'kay', if for no other reason than that 'Castaway KAY' would have a sort of clever rhyme. However, I'm pretty sure that's not right. |

I have two cousins who are avid, accomplished SCUBA divers and they dive all over the Caribbean. I once pronounced one of their dive locations as CAY and was promptly (if not a little rudely) told that CAY is pronounced Key? I have never made that mistake again!!
I'll have to say, given their expertise, that it is pronounced Key. ![]()

Anyone who would need to debate this subject has obviously NEVER been on a DCL trip. And if they have...well they are deaf or braindead. This is NOT a Bahamian name. The local dialect has absolutley ZERO to do with how it is pronounced, and the same goes for the dictionary and the Travel Channel or even your friend that lives there. It is Disney's island. They named it, and they have chosen to call it Castaway KEY!!! (Which also happens to be the way Bahamians often pronounce the word Cay) CALL DCL AND ASK THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly guys, this should not be a point debated on a disney show. I don't want to sound mean, but Nathan please, let's do some research here before offering to parade around in a thong. And I believe I have heard you say you have been on a DCL trip. Were you listening to the announcments? Did you watch the little video in your stateroom? (If you have never been on a DCL trip, please accept my apologies) Debating this is like debating whether the place is called Disney World or Walt Disney World. There is a right answer and a wrong answer. Not a MAYBE answer. Again, please, please, please don't think I am trying to be mean. That is not my intention. But as debates go, this is pretty pointless. Though it did manage to get me to nearly drive off the road laughing And by the way, I absolutley love this show, both of your websites, and Lou's book. You guys really make the time between trips go by much quicker. Thank you. I am a devoted pod-guy!

Well I live in a development called Captiva Cay. And it's pronounced KAY. *looks around* I probably didn't help much, haha.
