As long as it doesn't become a coaster, or Space Mountain style ride. I like Star Tours like it is, so upgrading is good, but they need to stay closer to the original concept. IMHO, of couse, mine only. I remember going on this at DL within the first month it was opened and it was so new and different. We rode twice that day and the simulation made me so sick it took about an hour to get my visuals straightened out. But it was so exciting.

I don't know if I heard it on Lou's show or elsewhere but I heard the new Star Tours may be in 3D. Also, I heard a rumor of three different destinations so there would be in essence three different rides.
They would be keeping the motion simulator since that is the basis of the ride and can give one the most complete experience. I do hope the execution is better than what they had at Busch Gardens: The Old Country. That 3D in that was rather bad. While I did see the 3D effect, the proximity to the screen meant I saw more double vision than I did actual 3D. I know it has been almost fifteen years of technology since I experienced that but one never knows. |
