Thanks for the information on resort rates, Bryan. It looks like the Polynesan may not get any kind of price break.

We were recently in WDW the 11th through the 14th of May, there were no AP rates for the Polynesian at that time either. It seems to me that the popularity of the Polynesian Resort keeps the rooms pretty well booked and therefore Disney doesn't seem to be offering many discounts for that resort. C'est la vie.

I've never done a Grand Gathering event before so I don't know all of the rules. I think you just have to have a single group of at least 8 people. So is it possible (if there is enough interest) for some of us to be a Grand Gathering and do one of the special events while we are down for the 1/2M? Does anyone know?

I think that the events sound wonderful and it would be great to do one on my sister's first trip to WDW.

and I thought you might like to check it out too.

well, I just found this thread today... looks like it's too late for me to consider being a part of the 1/2M... I ran the full Marathon back in (1992?) the second year it was at WDW. The day after the first marathon, I read about it in the paper and decided I was going to do it the next year! I wrote my thoughts about the experience down... I'll try to find them for anyone interested in reading it.

I don't think I can get ready for the full one again between now and January... I haven't run one since '92, and realize the time commitment it takes to train. That's my main reason for this post though... for you that have registered... Don't give up on your training! Make sure you have a schedule, write it down, commit to it... and on the day you are standing there, it will be the most amazing experience for you!

I found a book on training, that I roughly followed... I increased by a mile each Saturday, running half of that on Wednesday, and half of that(1/4 of Saturdays) on Monday and Thursday. The first time I ran I did 3 miles in 30 minutes, then laid on the floor for 30 minutes! lol After a while, it got to where I felt I was just warming up after 3 miles.
